21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Humanity Church has 90 days to find a new home for our Sunday morning gatherings.  We are setting aside 21 of those days to fast and pray and seek God’s voice for an answer to this need.  These 21 days of prayer and fasting are both a personal journey of spiritual renewal and a journey as a community in asking God to move powerfully with provision and expansion in our church.

Will you join us?

Fasting is a spiritual discipline where we give up a specific need or want for a season, and devote that time to seeking God.  Some examples might be giving up all food or a meal a day, social media, television, coffee, sugar, etc.  The time normally used to engage in those actions is used to connect to God, and our human desires and urges  for those things are a reminder to seek God’s face.

Fasting is not a spiritual hunger strike to get God to do something for us.  Fasting is a way to focus our hearts, minds and bodies onto the things of God for a specific season.  When we remove a need or want for a period of time, it reminds us that our trust and reliance is on God and frees up time and resources to connect to Him as our source.  People fast for many reasons, including to prepare for ministry (Matthew 4:1-17), to seek God’s wisdom (Acts 14:23), to show grief (Nehemiah 1:1-4), to seek deliverance or protection (Ezra 8:21-23), to repent (Jonah 3:1-10), to gain victory (Judges 20:26), and to worship God.

Spend time in gratitude for all God has done and is doing in your life.  This should be a time of worship and thanksgiving for who God is.

Spend time confessing any sin, brokenness, addiction or idolatry that you have been struggling with or entertaining.  Confess these things to your Humanity Group as well, as God leads you.

Ask God to come and make you holy and set apart to be used for the things that He has called you into.  Let him know that you want to be used for His purposes for this season of your life in a greater way.  You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation!

Ask God to bring us clarity for our next steps and where He would have us gather.  Ask for clarity on how He would like for His church to operate in the upcoming years.

Ask the Lord to continue to provide for Humanity Church.  Ask that He would move our hearts to be generous with our resources and continue to supply all of our needs. Pray specifically for a perfect building to gather in.

Most importantly, ask that God would continue to expand His Kingdom.  That many would continue to come to know Him and that hearts would be open to the power of the gospel.  Pray for a revival in Humanity Church as we passionately seek His face.
